Research programme

Current Research Projects

  • Visual Early Warning Score (VIEWS) Study: Our aim is to identify facial clues (using FACS or Facial Action Coding System) associated with patients at risk of deterioration. This study is taking place with the support of the Geometric Model and Pattern Recognition (GMPR) of the Sheffield Hallam University.

  • Intensive Care Neural Network Study (iCANN): Our aim is to develop a new prediction score for patients before being admitted to intensive care using new mathematical tools such as neural networks. This study is taking place with the support of the Geometric Model and Pattern Recognition (GMPR) of the Sheffield Hallam University.

  • Peripheral Hemophagocytic Study (PHP): Our aim is to identify hemophagocytes in septic patients using new laboratory procedures. This study is taking place with the support of Prof Jonathan Ainsworth, chief investigator.
