We are committed to actively promoting diversity and equality of opportunity in the workplace. We have a very diverse workforce from a range of ethnic groups, backgrounds and religions, and of many different ages, reflecting our local communities.
The Equality Act became law in 2010 and protects people from discrimination based on the following characteristics: age, disability, race including national and ethnicity, sex, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, religion and beliefs and sexual orientation. As a result of this change in law, the trust adopted an equality scheme to ensure that all patients and staff were free from discrimination in the hospital.
We are currently in the process of reviewing our equalities priorities for the year ahead and we will publish these in the coming weeks.
