At Home

If you have a straightforward pregnancy and like the idea of giving birth in your own home, we can support you to do exactly that.


WHO WILL BE THERE TO SUPPORT YOU?

You will have TWO midwives with you in your home to support you make sure you and your baby are safe and secure. Our community midwives are trained in a variety of labour techniques that are ideal for giving birth at home.


CAN YOU HAVE A WATERBIRTH AT HOME?

Yes, birthing pools can be provided by our community midwives, though you are welcome to use your own if you would prefer.


WHAT OTHER EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE?

Birthing stools, balls and TENs machines are all now carried by our community midwives to make your birth as comfortable as possible.


CAN YOU USE ANY OTHER PAIN RELIEF?

As well as the use of the TENs machine, gas and air (Entonox) will also be provided by the midwives if you need it. All our midwives are also trained in an array of natural pain relief techniques. Please be aware that epidurals are not available at a homebirth. 


HOW CAN YOU FIND OUT MORE?

If you would like a home birth or would like more information please ask your midwife. If you decide a home birth is right for you it will be discussed again with you at 36 weeks to ensure your pregnancy is still straight forward.
