Students launch Art Show in the Atrium

A group of A-level students from Southgate School have teamed up with North Middlesex University Hospital to launch an art exhibition on the theme of health.

New community sexual health clinic to open on Valentine’s Day

London’s newest sexual health clinic officially opens its doors on Valentine’s Day (14 February) to help amorous people remain in good health on the most romantic day of the year.
 
Anyone will be able to pop in to the Silverpoint Medical Centre in Fore Street, Edmonton, and use the “check and go” service for sexually transmitted infections as well as get family planning advice and have access to contraception. The service also provides a young persons’ clinic for those aged 18 and under.

Defenders Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Juan Foyth and Ladies team striker Bianca Baptiste visited a dozen youngsters on the hospital’s Rainbow and Starlight wards.


New chief executive Maria meets 100 staff and patients

North Middlesex University Hospital’s new chief executive, Maria Kane, begins her leadership of the Edmonton hospital today (Tuesday 19 December) with a whistle-stop tour of wards and departments in which she will meet 100 NHS staff and patients.

North Middlesex University Hospital's A&E department is under exceptional pressure due to an influx of patients following the recent cold weather. If your condition is not an emergency, please use alternatives to A&E, where possible: local pharmacies, GPs (family doctors), walk-in clinics and NHS 111, the free, telephone advice line for non-emergencies.  

Michael Bates ward closed to admissions due to winter vomiting bug

The hospital's Michael Bates ward is currently closed to new admissions following an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting (winter vomiting bug). 

Unless it is essential, visitors are advised not to visit the ward during this time.

Any visitors experiencing any symptoms of diarrhoea and or vomiting should stay away from the hospital until they have been symptom-free for at least  48 hours.

World Aids Day: “Get tested” for HIV, North Mid doctor urges local people

North Middlesex University Hospital's lead doctor for HIV is urging local people to get tested for the virus because a fifth of the estimated 2,000 local people infected in Enfield and Haringey do not know it, research shows.    

If untreated, the virus can destroy the human immune system, cause AIDS and there is a greater chance of infecting others.
