Steady progress on A&E redevelopment sees new mental health building craned in at weekend

Friday, November 30, 2018

We’re making good progress with our A&E redevelopment, and want to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved, from clinical staff to construction workers, and our colleagues in the ambulance service, as well as our local community.

Your patience and flexibility have helped ensure we are still able to treat and care for the nearly 600 patients who come to the emergency department every day.

This week, we’ve started demolishing walls which will allow the new mental health suite that will be craned into position on Saturday 1 December to join up with the rest of the hospital.

We'll need to close some parts of the main car park on Saturday morning, to allow the safe delivery and installation of the new building. Please bear with us while we're carrying out these improvements, and ensure you only come to A&E if you really need to.
