Mayor invests £4m to embed more youth workers in hospitals

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has today announced record investment to increase the number of youth workers in hospitals across the city and help steer young people away from violence, including at North Mid. 

North Mid to welcome Sarah Hayes as new chief nurse

Sarah Hayes will take up the role of chief nurse at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust from 18 December 2019. This follows the retirement of Deborah Wheeler, the current director of nursing, later this year. Sarah joins the Trust from Epsom and St Helier University Hospital NHS Trust, where she is deputy chief nurse. She is also interim chief nurse for the integrated care partnerships in Sutton and Surrey Downs.

New Chair for North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust

NHS England and Improvement (London) has announced the appointment of Cedi Frederick as the new Chair of the Trust Board at the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. Cedi Frederick will be replacing Dr Peter Carter who has been the Trust’s interim Chair since February 2019.

North Mid to welcome Sarah Hayes as new chief nurse

Sarah Hayes will take up the role of chief nurse at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust from 18 December 2019. This follows the retirement of Deborah Wheeler, the current director of nursing, later this year. Sarah joins the Trust from Epsom and St Helier University Hospital NHS Trust, where she is deputy chief nurse. She is also interim chief nurse for the integrated care partnerships in Sutton and Surrey Downs.

She has over 15 years’ experience at senior management and leadership level in community and hospital nursing, operational, and corporate leadership within the NHS.  Previously she worked as deputy chief nurse at Whittington Health NHS Trust.

Speaking of her appointment, Sarah Hayes said “I’m extremely proud to become chief nurse at North Mid. I’m passionate about improving health outcomes, supporting nurses and midwives to deliver outstanding patient care for the people of Enfield and Haringey and instilling pride in the profession.  

“It’s an exciting time for North Mid and I’m looking forward to being part of the team and getting started.”

Maria Kane, Chief Executive of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust said: “I’m really delighted Sarah will be joining our team later this year. Her vast experience in North London, expertise and enthusiasm will help us make huge strides in achieving our vision of providing outstanding care for local people.

“I also want to thank Deborah for her contribution to the NHS over many years and to North Mid in particular. We wish her a peaceful and productive retirement.”
