Dr Andres Izquierdo-Martin, clinical director for emergency care at North Mid, and a cornerstone of our expanded and redeveloped A&E department, was Highly Commended in the Clinical Leader of the Year 2019 category at last night’s Health Service Journal Awards.
Nominated by divisional director of operations for the Trust’s medicine and urgent care division, Russell Nightingale, Dr Martin was one of just six clinical leaders from across the UK to make it through to the final of this category in the HSJ Awards for 2019.
North Mid were also finalists in the Staff Engagement Award category, for the work led by the Trust’s service improvement team to champion and support staff-led improvements, using an approach developed by Listening into Action.
Dr Andres Izquierdo-Martin, clinical director for emergency care at North Mid, said: “I’m humbled to be recognised by the judges for the work we’re doing deliver improved patient outcomes. Leading our A&E department is a huge privilege and the real stars are the wonderful team that I get to work with every day”.
