An innovative approach to supporting staff-led improvement projects has both been shortlisted for the final of the 2019 NHS Elect Awards.
The Excellent Teamwork Award recognises the work led by the Trust’s service improvement team to champion and support staff-led improvements, using an approach developed by Listening into Action.
Now in its second year, the North Mid LiA programme has resulted in improvements throughout the Trust, based on feedback and ideas from staff who work in clinical and support services, including extending blood test opening hours for children, better coordination of transport arrangements for patients being discharged, and increased wellbeing support for staff to ensure they’re healthy and able to work.
Maria Kane, Chief Executive of North Middlesex University Hospital, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Excellent Teamwork Award which recognises the collaborative efforts and dedication of our staff members. We know that it’s by working as a team that we can improve outcomes and experience for our patients as well as making our hospital an excellent place to work. I’m really pleased that our staff have fully embraced our work to increase staff-led change as it’s having a huge impact and being a finalist will be a tremendous boost as we continue to make improvements to our services.”
