North Mid marked the close of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week (3-9 February 2020) by paying tribute to recent apprenticeship programme completers.
To acknowledge their success, approximately a dozen apprentices (pictured below) were presented with award certificates by Mark Vaughan (bottom row, centre), Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, and Kim Perry (top row, centre), Deputy Director of Nursing, during a special staff celebration ceremony on Wednesday 5 February.
North Mid currently employs more than 120 apprentices in a variety of clinical and non-clinical services including maternity, pharmacy, health records, finance and physiotherapy. Open to applicants aged 16 years and above, apprenticeships range from intermediate (level 2) through to degree standard (level 7), offering candidates the opportunity to study and learn on the job whilst earning a wage.
In addition to working with Barking and Dagenham College, the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London and training providers Hawk Training, the Trust’s apprenticeship programme also has partnerships with Middlesex University, London South Bank University and the University of Hertfordshire.
Maria Kane, Chief Executive at North Mid, said: “We’re so pleased to be recognised by Health Education England as a leading NHS Trust in London for our apprenticeships programme, helping to recruit employees from our local communities and develop skilled and knowledgeable staff for the future.
“Our Trust truly values the commitment and contribution made by every member of our 3,500 strong workforce and our apprentices are no different. We appreciate their desire to learn, enthusiasm to innovate and service to help North Mid provide outstanding healthcare for our patients.”
