Hospital marks Armistice day with multi-faith service of remembrance

North Middlesex University Hospital today (11 November) marked Armistice Day with a multi-faith service attended by staff and local community leaders.   

The service, led by the hospital’s chaplain Geoff Morgan, was held in the hospital’s Edwardian headquarters building next to a memorial plaque erected in 1920. The plaque honours staff of the former Edmonton Union Infirmary, founded on the North Middlesex University Hospital site, who died in service in the First World War.

Families who have their baby at North Middlesex University Hospital will be amongst the first in the country to receive a Finnish-style Baby Box for their newborn to sleep in. Launching to coincide with Infant Mortality Awareness Month, North Middlesex University Hospital is the second hospital in the UK to commence the Baby Box programme.

North Middlesex University Hospital accepts Care Quality Commission’s report and acknowledges need for improvements

North Middlesex University Hospital has recognised that urgent improvements must be made to its accident and emergency department following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.

The report, published today (6 July), follows the health regulator’s inspection of the hospital’s A&E department on 14 April 2016. It finds that medical care requires some improvement, but rates the urgent and emergency services as ‘inadequate’.
