We owe both our patients and staff a duty of confidentiality and will not release information to journalists about either without their consent.
If a patient or someone acting on his or her behalf has invited the media to report on their treatment we will comment if inaccurate material is put to us or published, restricting our response to correction of the inaccuracy.
Filming at the hospital
We try to accommodate news crews wishing to cover a story relating to the hospital or general health matters wherever possible. Contact the communications team to discuss the details. We make no charge for this kind of filming.
Occasionally we are approached by TV and film companies looking for a hospital location for a drama. If we can cooperate without causing disruption to patient care we will do so, and charge a fee according to the scale of the filming and the time spent on site. In such circumstances:
Staff and patients must all give written consent to be filmed
Patient and staff safety is paramount at all times and film crews must follow advice from professional staff.
Rigorous infection prevention and control procedures must be followed at all times.
In normal circumstances the crew will be accompanied by a member of the communications team.
As a major acute hospital close to the heart of London, we have many expert doctors and nurses on hand to provide comment on health news stories. Please contact the communications team on 020 8887 3001 to discuss this.
