Food and Catering

Food during your stay

A trolley containing hot food is delivered to each ward every day. A menu card displays three menu choices, together with a vegetarian and salad option. Patients who have special dietary requests - including kosher and Halal meals should advise their named nurse on arrival, so they can tell the catering team. Where appropriate a dietitian may need to be contacted.

Breakfast is served from 7am – usually cereal, toast and marmalade, and a hot or cold drink.

A hot lunch is served from 12–2pm daily.

An evening meal is served from 5pm daily.

Visiting is restricted during mealtimes.

Out of hours catering

If a patient misses a meal, the catering department can be contacted and a meal brought to the ward.

The catering department is open from 7.30am–8pm.

Food from visitors

If your visitors wish to bring in food for you, the hospital requests that they only bring ready-to-eat items, for example sandwiches with a sell by date, fruit, biscuits and drinks. There is no facility for reheating any items.

All food must be labelled and kept in the ward fridge, if needed.
