The North Middlesex University Hospital are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor G David Price as a new non-executive director.
Professor Price is UCL Vice-Provost (Research) and Professor of Mineral Physics in UCL Earth Sciences. He was formerly Executive Dean of the UCL Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Sciences. As UCL Vice-Provost (Research), Professor Price is responsible for promoting, supporting and facilitating the university’s research performance, including securing the highest-quality research outputs across UCL. The university attracts £275m of competitively won research grants and contracts annually. Professor Price is committed to the translation of research excellence to enhance patient care.
Professor Price is recognised as one of the first to establish the now major field of computational mineral physics and has published over 220 research papers with over 5000 citations and an H-index of 40. He has numerous awards the Schlumberger Medal of the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain in 1999; the Murchison Medal of the Geological Society of London in 2002; and in 2006 he was awarded the Louis Néel Medal of the European Geosciences union. In 2006-7 was Scientific Consultant for BBC 5-part series ‘Earth; The Power of the Plant’.
Professor Price is also the Chair of Governors of the UCL Academy School, Camden.

This appointment has been made in accordance with the office of the commissioner for public appointments (OCPA) Code of Practice. Professor G David Price took up the role of Non-Executive Director on 14th September 2011. The appointment is for four years, finishing on 13th September 2015 and the Trust are paying Professor G David Price a remuneration of £6,096 per annum.
All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Professor G David Price does not hold any other Ministerial appointments and he has not declared any political activity in the last five years.
