Mighty Mini races for North Mid Charity

Racing Mini takes the chequered flag in a North Mid Charity logo during CCRM Might Minis Championships at Brands Hatch.

Behind the wheel of the ‘Mighty Mini’ was Locum’s Nest co-founder Ahmed Shahrabani who represented North Mid Charity with stickers on his racing mini helping to raise awareness of the campaign to raise funds for medical gaming carts for the children’s wards at North Mid.

Having passed his racing licence and starting racing during the pandemic as a way of “switching off” between shifts as a doctor and running Locum’s Nest, Ahmed wanted to find his own personal way of supporting North Mid Charity.

Ahmed said, “Having heard of the North Mid Charity campaign I really wanted to get involved in supporting such a worthy cause for young people at North Mid. Racing gives me a mental break from my work, so it’s great to support a cause that will give patients an opportunity to take their mind off being in hospital.”

Ahmed’s top 5 finish was boosted by raising over £800 for North Mid Charity. He will be racing again in September and hopes to see the campaign reach the finish line.

'Dream Team' reach heights for North Mid Charity by raising £1500

  • Team of seven North Mid staff climb Mount Snowdon to raise money for North Mid Charity.
  • Group raises over £2,000 for the 7-hour climb of England and Wales’ highest peak
  • It ‘shows what we can all achieve when we work together for a great cause’

A team of intrepid staff from North Mid tackled Mount Snowdon to raise money for the hospital’s charity.  Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales at a staggering 3,560 ft and was conquered in just over 7 hours by the ‘North Mid Dream Team’.

The team was made up of colleagues from across the Trust who came up with the idea of fundraising on behalf of the North Mid Charity to give back to the hospital and the local community it serves.

George Osei-Bonsu said ‘we really appreciate the contribution and support from everybody in helping to raise over £2,000 for our amazing North Mid Charity. The feat goes to show the extent of what we can all achieve when we work together for a greater cause beyond ourselves.’

NHS staff swap tunics for trainers raising £6000 for North Mid Charity

North Mid staff swapped scrubs for sweatshirts this past weekend, as they took on one of the most idyllic runs in the capital to tackle the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

Nine members of North Mid Staff ran 13.1 miles to complete the stunning central London Half Marathon, taking in some of the capital's world-famous landmarks, and four of London's eight Royal Parks - Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James's Park and Kensington Gardens

Runner and data specialist Daniel Sowoolu said:

“It was a great experience and even though it was hard at times, it was an amazing feeling to get over the finishing line at the end. It was great to support each other in our training and some of us even managed to complete the race together which was a great feeling. To top that off it was great to know that we had raised so much for North Mid Charity!”

Fundraising manager Mete Redif who worked with the runners to maximise their fundraising efforts, said:

“We are truly grateful for the time and effort which colleagues went to during their training and race day for the Royal Parks Half Marathon. Not only did they push themselves during the physical training, but they also went above and beyond with their fundraising efforts. A special mention must go to Jo Keeble and Sita Chitambo who raised over £1,000 each!

A huge congratulations and thank you to our North Mid Royal Parks Team of 2022:

“We will be using the money raised by our runners to help make the approaching festive season as wonderful as possible for our patients and staff. Being in hospital over Christmas can be tough for patients and their relatives, and all our staff who work over the festive period will obviously be sacrificing some of their own family time to look after our patients. So we are turning our efforts now to campaigns which will help bring fun to the festivities.”

We have a number of campaigns currently running, and you can donate them or to our general fund online .
