Looking back on North Mid Charity's past activity and what the future holds

Last year we re-launched North Mid charity and have been overwhelmed with support from our community, many donating for the first time in response to Covid-19. This generosity has enabled North Mid Charity to support many projects; here we share and celebrate some of the activity that has taken place and look to our future.

As an NHS charity we work to enhance people’s experience of life at North Mid and we look forward to working across the trust to expand our reach in our centenary year and beyond.

We are proud of what has been achieved during the pandemic, this summer North Mid Charity created and delivered wellbeing bags to all staff teams - consisting of items such as toiletries, water bottles and confectionary, the charity funded and delivered 4500 hot meals for staff.

Fruit hampers In addition, during the recent holiday period we worked with the executive team to deliver hampers of fruit to every ward on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day as a way of saying thank you.

With funding from NHS Charities Together, we partnered with Age UK to deliver physical activity sessions for patients on our care of the elderly wards; we are now exploring how these can be delivered virtually. We also allocated funding to the patient experience team who have chosen to design and deliver activity packs for patients who stay with us and we look forward to seeing these on the wards.

In January work began on relaunching our staff allotment and we have been working closely with the wellbeing team, funding a psychologist post and providing more resources in the Wellbeing room Wellbeing room 2 wellbeing room, including a massage chair, furniture and lighting. To reach our communities we have funded a schools outreach post to connect students with the hospital by offering placements and work experience.

We’ve supported professional development opportunities, funding membership for nursing staff to the Florence Nightingale Foundation; and hope to expand the collaboration of professional development programmes in the future.

Finally we are immensely proud to have co-funded the Trust's Covid -19 ‘lights of memorial tree’ which is located outside of the hospital entrance; the tree commemorates those who have lost their lives during the pandemic.

Whilst North Mid’s Charity has achieved an incredible amount so far, this is only just the beginning.
