New 450 space multi-storey car park opens at North Mid

From today, staff, maternity patients and visitors can now park in our brand-new multi-storey car park built next to our maternity department.

The multi-million-pound car park was officially opened by executive colleagues alongside those who worked on the car park from R G Carter and colleagues from across the Trust this morning.

The five-storey car park has a total of 450 car parking spaces which includes 48 disabled bays on the ground floor and 45 additional electric car charging points plus lift and stair access.

It will be open for 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has been designed to be accessible to all.

The ground floor has disabled parking and is open to staff, patients, and visitors; maternity patients and visitors to our maternity department can park on the first floor; whilst the second, third and fourth floors are dedicated staff-only spaces.

The car park has one entrance via Sterling Way and can now be accessed by newly laid roads which were part of the project.

There are no changes to car parking charges or to the way you pay for parking. Please use the machines around the hospital. Patients and visitors should pay for parking before they leave the car park. Car parking for Blue Badge holders remains free.

Plans for the MSCP were initially started as a way of improving car parking accessibility on our hospital site. Although the car park will be providing additional spaces to what were previously available, the car park will also reprovide the car parking spaces that will be lost when our maternity car park and anti-coagulation car park close down.

Both the maternity and anti-coagulation car parks will remain temporarily open for staff, patients and visitors but will close in the near future. More information will be shared when these are due to close in the coming weeks.

There are no changes to the main car park and this remains open as usual for patients and visitors.

To mark our North Mid stamp on the car park even further, we are inviting children and young people from our local community to submit drawings and paintings of cars for our car park competition. The winning entrants will have their art displayed on the walls of the stairwells and lift lobbies of the multistorey car park at North Mid and also win tickets to visit London Zoo. More information about how to get involved will be shared in the coming days.
