The next stage of the local cancer awareness campaign, led by the North Central London Cancer Alliance, is underway with street advertising in a number of locations across the five north London boroughs. The campaign posters have been adapted to feature on street kiosks and digital bus shelter advertising sites and will be visible for around four weeks.
Colvin King (pictured), a campaign ambassador, went to see one of his poster images in Enfield. Following treatment for prostate cancer at North Middlesex University Hospital he is living well and is a big advocate for taking early steps to check changes in your health.
As he says in the campaign film: “Everyone who’s having a slight problem or has something they’re concerned about should get it diagnosed as early as you possibly can. I did it and so should you.”
Digital advertising in online local newspapers and targeted Facebook advertising in the north central London will also run over the next three months. The main campaign messages continue to feature:
- Know the symptoms
- Contact your local GP practice
- Take part when you are invited to participate in a cancer screening programme
Since the campaign launched in May, local voluntary and community organisations have held over 70 online or face-to-face events to spread these messages.
