North Mid celebrates remarkable year with virtual staff awards live from Tottenham Stadium

North Middlesex University Hospital, in north London, Edmonton held a virtual Staff Awards yesterday in partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to celebrate heroic staff after an extraordinary year.

The ceremony which had 12 awards up for grabs was hosted by British TV presenter, Nigel Clarke who is best known for his work on CBBC, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.  Broadcast live from Tottenham Hotspur football stadium, staff, patients and local communities were invited to join the celebrations by watching it on the Trust’s YouTube channel.

This year marks a significant milestone for the Trust as the hospital also celebrates 100 years of being known as North Middlesex Hospital. To celebrate their successes, recognise their achievements and reward their contributions, staff across the hospital were asked to nominate their peers for various awards. With over 400 nominations from staff across the hospital, the judging panel were tasked with shortlisting 36 finalists. The 12 categories included outstanding contribution to patient care, going the extra mile and clinical/non clinical team of the year.

During the event, videos were played from hospital patients, local MP David Lammy and Tottenham players Dele Alli, Ben Davies and Pierre Emile Højbjerg who expressed their thanks and gratitude for North Mid NHS staff.

Maria Kane, Chief Executive of North Middlesex University Hospital, said: “Our Staff Awards have always been an opportunity to recognise the incredible work people across the hospital do every day. Whilst I am always proud of the care and compassion our staff show, this past year they have completely outdone themselves. Like many NHS Trusts across the country, we have transformed our patient care and innovated under immense pressure. Each and every one of the challenges that we faced, we overcame together.

“Whilst this year’s ceremony was different to previous ones, it was important to celebrate the Trust’s achievements. North Mid has evolved in many ways over the last 100 years, but one thing that hasn’t changed is its commitment to providing outstanding care for local people.”

The event was sponsored by Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Practicus, System C, Capsticks, Bougues Energies & Services and North Mid Staff Bank.
