North Mid Charity, 'Scamp & Dude' and 'Wigs for Heroes' collaboration
This past week, North Mid Charity were generously donated over 200 scarves from clothing company Scamp and Dude for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment at North Mid. The scarves are part of the ‘super scarf’ campaign where Scamp and Dude donate a scarf to NHS partners when one has been purchased by a customer on their website. These are then distributed by nurses and matrons to patients at hospitals.
This latest donation is in addition to the well-established work Wigs for Heroes do for patients, by donating pamper bags for both men and women receiving chemotherapy at North Mid. Wigs for Heroes was founded by North Mid patient Kaz Foncette following her experience of living with breast cancer and has generously donated 500 pamper bags over a five-year period to chemotherapy patients on their first day of chemotherapy treatment. The bags contain items such as nail varnish and body creams.
Kaz said ‘As a former cancer patient, I know first-hand that it’s the small things that can make all the difference. That’s why Wigs for Heroes was established; to support patients at North Mid through virtual talking groups, events and alleviate any financial burdens which purchasing a wig.’
Monica Deckon, matron of oncology and palliative care said ‘I want to thank Scamp & Dude and Wigs for Heroes for these generous donations. I cannot express how much of an impact this will make on our cancer patients. It’s these acts of caring, kindness and generosity that we really value, and we are grateful for the support.’
