Tottenham stars deliver early Christmas presents and joy to younger patients

Stars from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club spread joy across North Mid after donating presents and meeting some of our younger patients and staff earlier today.

Every year the club puts a big smile on the faces of those who need it most making a tough time in hospital that bit easier.

After Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris met some of our patients virtually last year, the goalkeeper handed the baton over to his teammates Dejan Kulusevski and Ryan Sessegnon who met patients on our Starlight Ward and our Paediatric Assessment Unit.

The teammates spoke with patients and staff for over an hour in an experience they will never forget.

Every child in our care received a well-deserved early Christmas present donated by the club.

The Christmas period is a difficult time of year for children in hospital, their families and our staff and the club, and their players – like every year – made their day a lot better.

10-year-old Caeden Williams-Thomas, who was a patient at North Mid, and met the players said: “It was very nice to see two Tottenham stars. It cheered me, my brother and my sisters up and it was great getting an early Christmas present. I can’t wait to get home and play with them.”

Clare Oliver, Starlight Ward manager, said: “The patients absolutely loved their presents and meeting both Dejan and Ryan. You could really feel the impact it had both during the visit and after with our patients and their families smiling from ear to ear.

“I want to thank both players and the club on behalf of all of us on Starlight for their continued support and for taking the time out of their busy schedules to spread some joy and festive spirit among our young patients.”

High fives all around

Dr Nnenna Osuji, chief executive of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust said: “I would like to thank Tottenham Hotspur Football Club for all the presents they have donated to children in our care and to paediatric staff.

“I want to also say a big thank you to Dejan Kulusevski and Ryan Sessegnon for making all of our patients and staff smile. It’s a tough time for our patients and their families being in hospital at any time but especially at Christmas.

“As always, the club has provided such fantastic support to North Mid and we remain delighted to work with them as key partners.”
