Community voices: North Mid calls on local community to help shape services through new Patient Partnership Council

North Mid is on the lookout for members of the local community to join its Patient Partnership Council and have their say on how we can better improve services.

Over the past year, North Mid has been working to establish a forum that empowers the local community to influence hospital services. The Patient Partnership Council (PPC) is a program designed for residents of Enfield and Haringey, providing them with the opportunity to actively shape and improve the quality and safety of the care we provide North Middlesex Hospital and community.

Trudy De Cordova, North Mid's head of patient experience and patient engagement, said: “It’s so important that we shape our services around the people who use it and I am excited that our community will have another opportunity to give their insights into how we can work together to improve. This Council will be a way to use feedback from local people to grow North Mid in a way that is meaningful to the people we serve.”

Members of the Patient Partnership Council can commit two to four hours per week to engage with patient experiences, observe clinical environments, and provide practical insights to enhance the hospital experience. Following this they will participate in quarterly meetings with senior leadership to recommended changes, and in turn, senior leadership will provide feedback on actions taken based on their suggestions.

This initiative aligns with a broader vision for the trust to actively engage with the community, leveraging their valuable input to enhance services and create a responsive, patient-focused healthcare system.

All individuals who have received treatment or accessed services at North Mid’s hospital or community services, those who have cared for someone in these services, and members of voluntary or community sector organisations supporting hospital service users can be part of the Council.
