About our overseas nursing programme

Are you a nurse who trained outside the EU/EEA? Are you looking to join the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register?

Here at North Mid we provide help and guidance on taking the first step to re-enter the nursing profession and get you registered with the NMC. We provide advice and support on International English Language Test System (IELTS) and Computer Based Test (CBT) as well as preparing you for your Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) at one of three United Kingdom test centres.

We have a well-structured, successful and positively reviewed Overseas Nurses OSCE programme and we would be keen to welcome you to work at North Mid.

In preparation for your OSCE, you will be taught clinical skills in our skills lab with one to one support in areas such as planning patients care, medication management, aseptic none touch technique (ANTT) to name a few.

You will be assessed individually on your clinical skills and knowledge and constructive feedback provided to improve and develop your knowledge and competences to meet the NMC requirement for professional registration. You will also be given the opportunity and encouraged to work in groups, undertake self-assessments and participate in reflective learning activities as part of your learning and developmental needs.

How we support you

The OSN programme is supported by a dedicated team of Practice Educators including the lead Practice Educator for the Overseas Nurses OSCE programme.

On completion of the OSCE programme, you will be placed on the Trust Preceptorship programme. Your growth and professional development is further supported by the Practice Development Nurse for Precetorship. The Preceptorship programme will enable you to build on your confidence and core skills which enables you to make the transition into the role of a newly registered staff nurse in the United Kingdom.
