From London to Brighton and beyond: A journey of friendship, fitness, and fundraising

Five colleagues from across the Trust, came together to make two incredible journeys for one common goal in raising over £4,000 for North Mid Charity.

For the participants, it wasn't merely a personal fitness challenge, but an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their community. Four of them opted to cycle the London to Brighton route, covering approximately 54 miles, while a fifth colleague took on the challenge of running the New Forest marathon.

Andrew, Richard, Phlippa and Maurice embarked on their journey early in the morning, with the sun rising over the iconic skyline of London. Their route took them through the vibrant neighbourhoods of the city, past historic landmarks, and along the peaceful banks of the River Thames. As they left the city behind, the landscape changed dramatically, leading them through picturesque countryside and charming villages.

The New Forest Marathon: A Runner's ParadiseMarathon run

Meanwhile, their colleague Helen was running the New Forest Half Marathon and having an entirely different adventure. The New Forest, with its ancient woodlands, open heaths, and wild ponies, provided a unique backdrop for the 13.1-mile race. Helen navigated winding trails and enjoyed the tranquillity of the forest, all while knowing her efforts were contributing to a greater cause.

Fundraising for North Mid Charity

The core of these two remarkable journeys was the commitment to raising funds for the North Mid Charity, the registered charity that supports the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. The funds raised by the cyclists and runners will go a long way in supporting charitable projects across the Trust and community sites.

The London to Brighton cycle and the New Forest Marathon weren't just physical challenges; they were powerful reminders of the strength of friendship and the impact of collective action. These colleagues came together not only to test their own limits but to make a positive difference in their community.
