About our Bone Health service

Falling is not an inevitable result of ageing, but the risk of falling increases as people get older. Not all falls will result in serious injury but a fall can result in a broken bone, which may be difficult to recover from.

The bone health and prevention of fracture service is based in the community physiotherapy team and falls group. We also work together with your GP and other community based organisations to identify and assess elderly people in their own homes and provide information and advice where required. Where appropriate we will refer on to other organisations e.g. physiotherapy for balance and strengthening exercises or we may refer you for a scan for bone density (DEXA).
