Another goal scored! Tottenham Hotspur spreads joy at North Mid children's ward

Fresh from their victory in last Sunday’s game, the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have scored yet another winning goal on Tuesday 12 December - this time to spread some holiday cheer to North Mid’s children’s ward to give away gifts.

The Spurs have a long-standing tradition of visiting North Mid around Christmas to visit sick children. And every time, the team visits, the atmosphere is always filled with excitement with the players taking time out of their busy schedules to bring smiles to the faces of the young patients.

The Play Team, John Sparrowhawk and Clare Oliver with the Spurs players Paying a visit to Rainbow Ward this Christmas season are Ryan Sessegnon, Alfie Dorrington and Brandon Austin.

The Tottenham Hotspur, known for their skills on the football field, showcased their heartwarming and compassionate side as they interacted with the children, bringing joy and a sense of delight to the hospital environment. The visit was a testament to the club's commitment to community engagement and making a positive impact beyond the football pitch.

We caught up with the three Spurs players, who shared their thoughts on the significance of their visit to patients and their families.

Ryan Sessegnon said: “For us, these visits may look little but it’s very big for them. Just for us to spread joy and happiness is very important.”

Brandon Austin agreed and said: For us to come here is good for the patients, especially the children as we spread some Christmas joy. It’s obviously difficult for some families right now, so anything we can do to raise their spirit is always nice.”

Alfie Dorrington further said: “It means a lot to give back to our community, seeing the little kids put smile on their faces, it means a lot to the Club and to us.”

Rainbow Ward  During their time at Rainbow Ward for babies, children and young people, the players generously distributed gifts and souvenirs to the young patients, creating unforgettable moments for both the children and their families. The genuine warmth and kindness displayed by the players uplifted the spirits of everyone present, turning the hospital visit into a memorable and heartening experience.

Michelle Lai-kit, parent to one of the children who has been staying in the hospital for five weeks now, said: “It means a lot to see the Tottenham Hotspur players be part of the community and share some Christmas spirit on the wards to the sick children. We felt honoured and special. Thank you so much for the lovely gift. My son absolutely adores it.”

The event not only provided a welcome distraction for the children undergoing treatment but also highlighted the power of sports and community partnerships in fostering a sense of togetherness. The North Middlesex Hospital extends its heartfelt gratitude to Tottenham Hotspur for their thoughtful visit, which undoubtedly made a difference in the lives of the young patients.
