Expertise on pounds and pennies now scores prizes! North Mid finance team wins prestigious industry award
A bite-sized training programme that supports clinical staff to get best value out of public funding for patients has helped a north London hospital’s finance team scoop a top industry award.
Team North Mid’s finance directorate was recognised in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Awards 2023 which culminated in an evening prize-giving ceremony at a top London hotel.
The North Mid team, which is one of the essential corporate services that contribute to the north London Trust’s delivery of emergency and planned care for 600,000 people in Enfield, Haringey and surrounding area, received the Havelock award in the ceremony attended by various finance teams and departments from across the UK.
North Mid deputy chief executive and chief financial officer, Bimal Patel, who leads the Trust’s finance, digital, procurement and informatics services, said: “We are truly honoured to have been recognised with the Havelock Award at the National HFMA awards which gives us more inspiration in our continuing development of a comprehensive and ongoing financial training programme specifically for non-finance staff. It also reflects our commitment to transparency, engagement, and the cultivation of a financial-savvy culture throughout the Trust.
He added: “As an organisation, North Mid recognises that everyone has a part to play in improving our sustainability, which underpins how efficiently we use our funding for patient care. It is through our people that we help people, so it’s vital we support our colleagues to work sustainably, and that we help them learn and develop how to be efficient to enable us to deliver outstanding care to our local communities.”
