Lenny Byrne confirmed as North Mid’s interim chief nurse

Lenny Byrne has been successfully appointed to the role of interim chief nurse at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust following a competitive recruitment process.

He has been an experienced leader in the NHS for a number of years, having been chief nurse and director of integrated professions at University Hospitals Plymouth from March 2019 to May 2023. He has also been in a number of leadership roles in private and charity sector. Currently, he is director of nursing for Chase Farm Hospital, part of Royal Free London.

Lenny said:

“I am thrilled to be joining the team at North Mid at a very exciting time for the Trust. I know that there is a huge amount of great work happening and it will be such a privilege to work alongside colleagues who are so passionate about improving the lives of people living in Enfield, Haringey and beyond.”

Dr Nnenna Osuji, chief executive at North Mid, said:

“With his leadership experience across a range of sectors, from NHS to charity, I am confident that Lenny will bring new depth and breadth to our leadership team, and build on the progress we have made over recent years in acute and community spaces. I want to thank Sarah Hayes for her contribution to North Mid and wish her well in her new role at East Kent.”

Lenny will start his role at North Mid later this year.
