Patients and staff spread festive cheer for Best Dressed Ward competition
North Mid's annual Best Dressed Ward competition returned and like every year, spread plenty of festive spirit, warmth and happiness across the Trust.
The annaul competition is a tradition here at North Mid where staff across the Trust decorate their work areas all aimed to make staff and patients feel at home over Christmas.
This year was like no other with a record number of wards, departments, offices and areas entering in the spirit of Christmas and a patients across any wards even getting involved.
Every corner of the Trust was decorated in tinsel, Christmas trees, with some teams even creating hand-made personalised decorations linked to the care they provide.
This year's judges - Sarah Hayes, Chief Nurse, Mark Vaughan, Director of HR and OD and North Mid's very own Santa Claus, Dr Maurice Cohen, Deputy Medical Director - all had a difficult job choosing the winners but three entries stood out.
Like every year, there are always some that stand out more than others and this year, our Podium 1 Ward picked up this year's crown after decorating the ward with lights, creating their own chimney and playing music throughout the day for all to enjoy.
In second place, was our incredible Emergency Department admin colleagues who did a fantastic job bringing plenty of joy and light to an area that has been under enormous pressures recently due to winter pressures and industrial action.
Coming in a close third was S3 Ward who went above and beyond to make visitors, patients and colleagues welcome with music on the wards, decorations embracing North Mid's different cultures and creative decorations throughout the ward.
Despite the winning three standing out to the judges, there were a number of other entries that were highly commended including Pearl Ward, our Alexander Pringle Centre and our sexual health sites in the community.
Pearl Ward, Sunrise Neonatal Unit and our paediatric areas including Starlight Ward and Paediatric Assessment Unit all got patients involved when decorating their areas.
