S2 ward nurses meet with Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

On Wednesday 12 May, nurses from S2 virtually met with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s midfielder, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

Earlier this year, the Trust held a virtual Staff Awards live from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. With over 400 nominations from staff across the hospital, S2 were shortlisted and won the award for their outstanding contribution to patient care and experience. In addition to this, all nominees were placed into a raffle and won various prizes, donated by our incredible partners, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. One of the many prizes was a virtual meet and greet with one of Tottenham’s fantastic football players. The lucky winners of this prize were S2.

Nurses from the ward spoke with Pierre who showed his gratitude for all the hard work nurses have done, particularly over the last year. With today also being International Nurses Day, it was an opportunity to highlight the important role of our nurses and celebrate their achievements. Both the nurses and Pierre were also given the chance to ask each other questions about their work and discuss their plans as restrictions start to ease again next week.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, said: “This past year has shown the world how important nurses are, and the vital role they play. It was a privilege to join the nurses today from North Middlesex Hospital and it was fantastic to be able to celebrate International Nurses Day with them. On behalf of everyone at Tottenham Hotspur, thank you for all the incredible work you continue to do.”

Caryl Joseph, Ward Manager for S2 at North Middlesex University Hospital, said: “It was so much fun to meet and spend time with Pierre, and talk about how each other’s roles have adapted throughout the pandemic. With today also being International Nurses Day, speaking with Pierre added to the celebrations and the chance to reflect on our achievements over the last year with him was a nice reminder of everything we should be proud of at North Mid.”

The Trust’s longstanding partnership with Spurs has gone from strength to strength. From transferring North Mid’s maternity unit to the stadium to hosting the hospital’s first ever virtual Staff Awards and donating wonderful prizes such as this virtual meet and greet. The support and generosity from the club has been incredible.

This year marks a significant milestone for the Trust as the hospital also celebrates 100 years of being known as North Middlesex Hospital.
