A partnership that goes above and beyond – North Mid Charity and Equans UK & Ireland

North Mid Charity has delivered several different projects across North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. This work could not have been done without the unwavering support of individuals and organizations who have been involved in several different ways.

One of those supporters is Equans UK & Ireland who are the facilities management provider at North Mid and based at the Sterling Way site. Over the last 24 months, they have gone above and beyond with their support for projects being led by North Mid Charity.

Edible Allotment Project

AllotmentSince 2021, the Equans team has supported  the renovation of the Trust’s staff allotment space at the Trust HQ. Working in partnership with NHS Charities Together, North Mid Charity and local sustainable food group Edible London, Equans colleagues were integral in supporting the renovation and creation of plant beds and spaces for staff to enjoy some well-earned down time during growling shifts.

Pantry Plant Box Scheme Edible London delivery

One of the largest and innovative projects funded by North Mid Charity is the Pantry Plant Box scheme.  The service operates as a membership scheme model, based on a financial contribution from staff, which is donated to North Mid Charity.  In exchange, they receive a food box containing fresh produce and non-perishable items. The plant boxes are sourced from surplus produce, with some mixed ambient items which are donated and produced (when available) from local growing projects.

Our Annual Staff Awards

Staff awardsAs well as helping us with successful projects, Equans have also with us to celebrate those successes- as well as the outstanding effort of staff across the Trust. Being one of the platinum supporters of Our Annual Staff Awards events over the last 2 years, we wouldn’t have been able to deliver the high quality memorable event for our staff without their help.

NHS Big Tea

NHS Big Tea The NHS Big Tea is the annual flagship event for NHS Charities across the country. Over the last few years, North Mid Charity has been helping colleagues celebrate by providing supplies for tea parties to take place on wards across the Trust. This past year, Equans made a generous donation alongside support from Morrisons stores in the local area to make sure that staff could have their cake and eat it too!

tough mudder Equans colleagues tough it out for North Mid Charity

It’s also great to see that Equans staff have also been throwing their support behind North Mid Charity. This past year colleagues signed up for the Finsbury Park Tough Mudder and put their mental and physical capabilities to the test all in the name of fundraising for North Mid Charity.

Simon Hayman, Regional Director for Equans, said:

"We are very proud to have supported North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust’s North Mid Charity over the years. From sustainable food boxes to reduce waste, sponsoring their staff excellence awards, helping create green spaces for staff to enjoy and relax in to raising funds through various challenges including Tough Mudder, we will remain committed to supporting the North Mid Charity in its quest to help local communities and improve staff health and wellbeing."

As our relationship with Equans & their team continues to grow, it is clear to see the huge impact that their proactive energy and support has had in enabling the work of our very own North Mid Charity. Keep an eye out for more collaborative projects with North Mid Charity & Equans soon.
