About Sunrise Neonatal Unit

Welcome to Sunrise Neonatal Unit.

We are based on the first floor within maternity building and have 24 cots in total to provide care to critically unwell and premature babies. In addition to this we support caring for newborn babies by the mother’s bedside within maternity on the postnatal ward. We work very closely with our maternity birthing center, labour ward and with different neonatal units within the London Neonatal Network for provision of specialist neonatal care, including surgery.

The Sunrise Neonatal Unit team strives to work in partnership with parents to provide highest quality family centered care for premature and newborn babies who are unwell at birth. We understand that having a baby on a neonatal unit can be very sensitive and emotional time for parents and have services in place to help and support parents of babies in our care. We do not have residential facility for parents but invite parents to visit their baby anytime on the unit as per their convenience. In addition to this, we have three parent bedrooms available for parents to stay overnight in preparation for discharge or support.

Arriving on Sunrise Neonatal Ward

The Team will show you around the ward. We have parents' sitting room where you can help yourself to free tea, coffee and hot chocolate. It also has a fridge so you can store your own food/drinks (please put your name and date on your items) and a microwave.

Please ask about registering your care for free parking permit if you have driven to the hospital. We can register one car per family.

Due to your baby's needs and where possible to keep twins/triplets together, we may need to move you and your child from your cot space or side room to another area on the ward wher eyou will still be cared for by our team of Neonatal Nurses & Doctors. We will always try to do this at a suitable time, when possible to cause you minimal disruption, but we do apologise for any inconvienience caused.

Ward Rounds start @ 10:00 on weekdays and 10:00 on weekends. Virtual ward rounds are provided for parents who are unable to be there on the day but would like to join online.
